Jake Gyllenhaal and Evan Spiegel share a documented connection through fashion publishing: they appeared on separate L’Uomo Vogue covers in consecutive months in 2015. Gyllenhaal featured in September, followed by Spiegel in October, with fashion editor Rushka Bergman credited on both shoots.

That connection does not establish a personal relationship between the actor and the Snapchat co-founder. The reliable sources reviewed for this article did not establish that they are relatives, business partners or close friends.

Their L’Uomo Vogue Cover Connection

Vogue Italia’s original cover stories provide the clearest record of their shared editorial connection.

Gyllenhaal appeared on the September 2015 issue, numbered 463. Published online on August 31, the accompanying interview discussed his work in Everest, Southpaw and Demolition, alongside his interest in producing and theatre. Michel Comte photographed the shoot, and Rushka Bergman served as fashion editor.

Spiegel appeared on the October 2015 issue, numbered 464. His cover story, published online on October 12, explored Snapchat’s development and his approach to communication through photographs and video. Francesco Carrozzini photographed him, with Bergman again credited as fashion editor.

These were separate features with different photographers and subjects. They were not a joint interview or a shared cover.

Who Is Jake Gyllenhaal?

Jake Gyllenhaal is an actor and producer whose film work includes Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain, Zodiac and Nightcrawler. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences records his supporting actor nomination for Brokeback Mountain at the 2006 Oscars.

His L’Uomo Vogue interview focused on the demands of acting, including preparing to portray a real person in Everest. It also covered his theatre work and his experience producing Nightcrawler.

Who Is Evan Spiegel?

Evan Spiegel is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Snap Inc., the company behind Snapchat. Snap’s official leadership page identifies him as CEO and states that he has held the position since May 2012.

In his 2015 Vogue interview, Spiegel described the idea behind Snapchat as using photographs to communicate, rather than simply preserving them. The feature examined the app’s vertical video format, Stories and other features as they existed at that time.

Those product descriptions belong to the historical interview; they should not be read as a current guide to Snapchat.

What Does the Shared Connection Mean?

The magazine records establish a specific professional overlap: both men worked with Bergman on separate L’Uomo Vogue cover features. Bergman’s own portfolio also includes photographs of both men under her work for the magazine.

A shared publication and fashion editor do not, by themselves, establish friendship, kinship or a business partnership. The supported connection is their participation in two successive magazine issues, each reflecting a different career—Gyllenhaal’s in acting and Spiegel’s in technology.
